I have taught English both online, here in the USA, to Kiev, Ukraine and in the classroom, in Iran and India. That’s a lot of experience which leads to a lot of learning on my part; learning to be receptive and sensitive to a student’s needs, to listen and be supportive, and to maintain a sense of humor!

I experience genuine satisfaction in helping others to express themselves simply, clearly and evocatively.

Hello, my name is Susan and I am from the U.S. I love to teach English, especially reading comprehension, literature, organizational writing skills, and grammar. I love poetry and host a radio show about poetry and prose.  Middle school English classes and teaching adult ESL classes were my favorite jobs, as well as private tutoring. Many of my students are/were Spanish speakers, Asian, European, and African.  I am a grammar “geek” and enjoy explaining the rules and idiosyncrasies of the English language, working on pronunciation, and creative writing.  Knowing what my student’s needs and goals are is paramount in order for me to create interesting and informative lessons.  Of course, “teaching by the book” is also essential for those students who need to pass exams to advance their academic pursuits, and I, too, always learn from good textbooks and prepared approaches to teaching English.
